The Fall Development League provides an excellent opportunity for players to continue learning the game of softball in a fun environment.  

The fall season is intended to be development focused and gives athletes the chance to build their skills, try new positions, prepare to play at an older age level, and be part of a team.  It's also perfect for athletes who are looking to try fastpitch softball for the first time!  All skills and abilities are welcome and encouraged to register.   

Registration will close on 7/25!

 

REGISTRATION FEES

  • 8U: 
    • Returning summer athlete: $25; no jersey provided
    • All others: $40; includes t-shirt jersey 
  • 10U/12U/14U: 
    • Returning summer athlete: $125; no jersey provided
    • All others: $140; includes t-shirt jersey

UNIFORMS

Royal Blue T-shirt jersey uniform will carry forward to Fall along with royal blue socks, royal blue belt and black pants 

New jersey designs will be coming for Summer 2026 so be on the lookout for communication to come!

GAMES

  • 8U/10U:
    • League Games: Saturdays; August 23rd – September 20th (off Labor Day Weekend)
      • State Tournament: September 27th 
  • 12U/14U:
    • League Games: Sundays; August 24th – September 21st (off Labor Day Weekend) 
    • State Tournament: September 28th 

Additional Notes:

  • All age levels are off during Labor Day weekend.
  • Game times and locations are set by MN Softball on a weekly basis based on the prior week's performance; schedules will be released the Wednesday prior to the upcoming weekend.

PRACTICES

1-2 days per week starting the week of 8/11

  • 8U/10U: Tue/Thur
  • 12U/14U: Mon/Wed

Please note - these days may fluctuate based on several factors including weather, Coach availability and final number of teams but this is the general schedule that we will endeavor to follow.  

Practices will be held at the Spring Lake Park High School fields.  

TEAM FORMATION

*NEW* this year, based on feedback we've received from families we'll be using evaluation scores from spring to help determine team placements.  We will endeavor to have team placements announced by 8/4. 

  • For 10U and above, a top team would be chosen based on Spring evaluation scores.  We’ll follow a similar rubric of required picks based on scores and coaches picks from there. 
  • In the event an age group has enough players for 3 teams, the remaining two teams would be split into two balanced/even teams
  • Those new to the program, or who did not participate in Spring evaluations, will be placed on the 2nd team or one of the evenly balanced teams in the event there are 3 teams at that age level.  
  • We will endeavor to honor "buddy" requests for our 8U teams only (no guarantees) 

We will not be using coach feedback as an input in an effort to keep the team selection process objective.  

We recognize this process isn't perfect, however we're doing our best to balance feedback from families and what we feel is best for the program, while also keeping in mind the abbreviated nature of the fall season.   Ultimately, our goal is to ensure all our athletes and coaches are being set up for a fun and successful season!
